Detention Center Trip Fundraiser

Hastings Students for Immigrant Rights (HSIR) will be sending 9 law students to Taylor, Texas in March 2020 to support American Gateways. American Gateways offers pro bono legal services to represent adult women asylum seekers who are incarcerated at the Hutto detention center.  As volunteers, Hastings students will help American Gateways by preparing women for their Credible Fear Interview (a crucial first step in the asylum process), conducting country condition research, and helping attorneys draft asylum briefs and other case preparation.

However, all volunteers must be self-funded. Thus, HSIR is asking for your assistance in supporting its efforts to advocate for vulnerable women fleeing persecution who are being held in the Hutto detention facility. Your donation is tax-deductible.
